In December 2018, JBM secured planning permission with An Bord Pleanála for a 60MW project at Fidorfe. Located in Meath on the border with Dublin and spread across more than 200 acres, this project is ideally placed to provide power to nearby industrial and corporate energy users.
Fidorfe Solar will make a meaningful contribution to Ireland’s legally binding CO2 reduction targets, helping the country avoid potentially significant EU fines beyond 2020. At the local level, the project will make a €510,000 development contribution to the local authority prior to construction.
Fidorfe Solar is expected to provide enough renewable energy to power more than 13,000 homes and once built, will help avoid more than 27,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
Fidorfe Solar is part of a 326MW portfolio of solar projects developed by JBM and subsequently sold to Statkraft in November 2019. As part of a larger scheme of networked projects, Fidorfe was recently provisionally awarded a CFD contract in the Irish government’s Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS), paving the way for construction of this project in 2021.
